It’s time to celebrate the Kentucky Derby. “The Run for the Roses” is perhaps one of America’s most storied traditions. The thoroughbred race has been held every year for nearly a century and a half, cementing the Derby’s legacy as the longest continuously held sporting event in America. 
 
And for the better part of a century, the mint julep has been synonymous with the Kentucky Derby. Between the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs reportedly serves nearly 120,000 mint juleps over the two-day festivities. 
 
With attendance expected to be at a minimum this year, it’s up to you to recreate the electricity of “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports” at home. So breakout the seersucker suits and extravagant hats. We’re celebrating the Kentucky Derby at home this year.

Classic Mint Julep

This one is for the thoroughbreds. The Kentucky Derby purists. The Classic Mint Julep recipe has a little bit of Kentucky history in it.
